Think-ets Press Release For Immediate Release
New “Think-ets” Tiny Trinkets Game Grows Mega-Minds Boulder, CO (January 23, 2008) When was the last time your kids played a game that didn’t have an on/off switch, a wall plug, a battery compartment, a dual-turbo remote and a USB cable hook-up to the World Wide Web? You can’t remember, can you? Don’t you miss games that don’t need power supplies? Games that are powered by imagination? Games that can be played anytime, anywhere by anyone with a desire to just laugh and be creative? You’re not alone; there are many families that miss playing games like that. But, luckily, instead of just missing them, a team of creative thinkers from Boulder, Colorado invented one. Showing in manufacturer Think-a-Lot Toys’ Booth 6356 at this year’s American International Toy Fair in New York, “Think-ets” is an innovative (and wireless!) game that’s all about using creative imagination. Inspired by Randy Compton’s idea of putting miniature items into a pouch and turning it into a fun and entertaining game for kids and parents, and Julie Lake’s life-long love of collecting small treasures, “Think-ets” features an amazing assortment of highly detailed miniature trinkets. Together the trinkets can be used to inspire storytelling or test memory, logic and more. Says one mother, “All three of my children ages 12, 9 and 7 love the game. Also anyone I introduce it to does as well. We all have fun making up stories with the pieces and also just holding and looking at themeach trinket is so detailed. We have five sets and plan to buy more as gifts.” Because Think-ets is so portable it can be played practically anywhere. On a long flight? Just flip down the tray table and play the memory game, What’s Missing? Waiting for your waitress to bring your burgers? Play the thinking game, Who’s Last? Or, if you’d like to play games other than the 10 that are suggested in each set, it’s fun to make up new ones. Besides being a blast to play, the cognitive functions your brain performs while playing these games will improve your memory and enhance critical thinking skills. Packaged simply yet elegantly, each “Think-ets” comes in a colorful, sheer pouch with a secure drawstring. Inside of each pouch is a collection of 15 specially selected trinkets from all over the world. While the games children and their families can play are virtually limitless, the main one Think-a-Lot Toys suggests is called What’s Your Story? A player selects one trinket and begins to tell a story based on what it is. Play continues as each additional person takes a different trinket and adds to that story. Silliness and creativity are encouraged. Inventor Randy Compton, who shares the CEO title with Duchess of Doodads Lake, says the two decided to start Think-a-Lot Toys and pursue bringing “Think-ets” to market after they received sterling feedback from a survey and a focus group ages 4 to 92. The results they went by were that 95% of participants loved playing the game and 100% said they would recommend the game to others. Hand-selected for their unique qualities, each of the tiny treasures in a set of “Think-ets” represents a potential doorway into a playground of imaginative fun. A great deal of time is spent ensuring that each set has a rich variety of highly detailed trinkets. Everything from color, shape, material and texture is considered when creating a set of “Think-ets.” Adding to their diversity the trinkets have been selected from 10 different sources in eight countries, including Germany, India, Africa and the USA. The company draws from over 150 unique trinkets so no two sets are alike, which gives kids the chance to have fun trying to collect ‘em all. Introduced on a very limited basis to the specialty toy market just in the Saint Nick of time for the 2007 holiday season, “Think-ets” is already a winner. The game has received warm reviews from consumers, brisk re-orders from retailers and has been awarded a 2007 Creative Child Award Seal of Excellence, The Toy Man 2007 Award of Excellence, The Toy Man 2007 Editors Choice Award and made the 2007 Dr. Toy “Worthy Of Mention” List.
